Digital Marketing Consultant
Yawn Marketing, part of the Jarrold Group, is a marketing agency based in Norwich. We are on the lookout for an enthusiastic marketing generalist to join us as a Digital Marketing Consultant.
We have a broad roster of high-profile local and national clients, and, following our acquisition by the Jarrold Group last year, provide marketing consultancy and delivery for in-group businesses. Given this exciting time in our journey, we’re in need of a new team member to help us continue to deliver a level of service that exceeds their expectations.
We’re a small team of knowledgeable, energetic and creative marketers, with expertise in a range of areas. This role is an opportunity to take a key position in helping us shape our future, grow with the business, and meaningfully contribute to our brand.
Overview of Role
The role of Digital Marketing Consultant sits within Yawn Marketing’s service delivery team, supporting our clients in the delivery of a wide range of digital marketing activities across multiple channels. With a broad remit and variety of clients, you’ll contribute both strategic thinking and hands-on delivery across key areas, such as email marketing, social media, website updates, SEO, copy and content creation, and paid media, to help drive meaningful results.
As a small agency with a pragmatic, boutique mentality, we encourage every team member to bring ideas to the table and to take ownership of the work they deliver. You’ll support and shape how our services are delivered, suggest process improvements, and contribute to the success of both client projects and the wider agency.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing Services and supporting the Client Services team, the Digital Marketing Consultant is a key player in the provision of high-quality marketing outputs for our clients.
Core Responsibilities
As a Digital Marketing Consultant at Yawn, your primary role will be focused on the execution of marketing services. You’ll work with our account managers to develop and implement tactical marketing plans and larger strategic projects that cover a range of channels and marketing activities in combination to support defined strategic aims.
This role is predominantly a hands-on delivery role, however, as a small agency, with a client roster with diverse needs, there will be some client-facing aspects.
Working as part of a close-knit team, you’ll be helping to build long-term relationships with the agency’s retained clients and deliver high-quality service to support retention and upsell opportunities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Multi-channel marketing delivery – Delivering marketing activities across a wide range of channels, including email marketing, social media, website recommendations and updates, SEO, copywriting, paid media (where required), and content creation for both campaign-based and always-on activity.
- Planning and strategy – Collaborating with account managers and clients to shape and refine channel-specific strategies and tactical plans, to deliver overarching strategic aims while ensuring each channel plays a purposeful role in the broader marketing mix.
- Service ownership and improvement – Supporting the refinement and evolution of our digital marketing services across channels. This includes looking for opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness in delivery, implementation, tools, documentation, and reporting.
- Cross-channel thinking – Identifying and testing cross-channel insights and tactics (e.g. search-led content to support social media performance, or user behaviour on-site to influence email segmentation).
- Client communications – Liaising with and updating clients where required to support account managers, gathering key information and content to support planned marketing activities, and feeding back on performance or progress.
- Training and workshops – Supporting, and where required, leading the delivery of training sessions, workshops and presentations for retained and project-based clients, including the development/refinement of supporting materials.
- Analysis and reporting – Monitoring the performance of implemented activities and supporting the production of clear, actionable reports for both internal and client use. Using data to inform proactive recommendations, next steps, and opportunities for optimisation.
- Testing and optimisation – Continuously looking for opportunities to improve and enhance the services we deliver. Even small tweaks can make a big difference, and we value those incremental wins.
- Internal training and knowledge sharing – Contributing to the ongoing development of the team by sharing expertise, helping to train and upskill colleagues, and supporting a culture of continuous learning across the agency.
- Agency marketing – Supporting the promotion of Yawn’s services through activities such as email campaigns, website management, social media marketing, and the creation of content to demonstrate the agency’s expertise and results.
- Business development – Supporting the agency’s growth by contributing to audits, proposals and other business development activities. You’ll be encouraged to bring ideas to the table, help shape how we pitch services, and identify opportunities to add value.
Key Skills & Experience
- Minimum of three years' experience in a generalist marketing role, working across multiple projects or clients at a time.
- You don’t have to have experience in all the areas covered within this role - we’ll provide training and support to fill gaps - but ideally, you’ll have some level of experience in most.
- Agency experience is highly desirable.
- Strong, demonstrable creative copywriting skills are also highly desirable.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role is an advantage.
- Experience in areas such as eCommerce, campaign planning, paid media management, SEO, CRO, UX and data tracking/measurement are an advantage but are not specific requirements for this position.
