Why Numeric
Every business relies on accounting. Yet most software in the space was built in the early 2000s — clunky, slow, and far behind the curve on AI. Today, accountants are facing a growing, unsolved data problem as data volumes and systems complexity grow — and they lack the tools to solve it. The problems are real, hard, and increasingly urgent. But they’re solvable.
Enter Numeric — the modern financial data platform for accounting and finance. Weaving together data, workflows, and AI-first solutions, we’re empowering accounting teams to achieve verifiable, detailed financial data faster and make business decisions with greater confidence.
We have strong product market fit and a growing base of customers who love our product - including OpenAI, Plaid, Brex, Betterment, and many more. We’re backed by top-tier investors including Menlo Ventures, IVP, Founders Fund, and 8VC, along with founders and executives from Ramp, Segment, and other category-defining companies.
About the role
We’re building a world-class content engine, and the last few years have been about taking our content program from 0 → 1. Now, we’re looking for someone who will keep that same 0 → 1 attitude even as we scale content to the next level.
This role is tailor-made for someone who wants the freedom to experiment with new formats and channels, can bring their own editorial taste to what we're building, and is excited by the opportunity to create content that genuinely helps Controllers level up.
You'll inherit momentum, and it's your job to build on it.
What you’ll do
Create high-quality content across formats. Write in-depth guides, educational resources, case studies, LinkedIn posts, and newsletter issues. The bar: content that could genuinely help someone in our ICP get promoted. You'll be producing multiple pieces per week across different formats.
Own our SEO/AEO strategy and execution. Scale our organic search program by identifying high-value keywords, managing a content calendar, tracking rankings and traffic, and optimizing for AI visibility. You'll work with freelancers to increase output while maintaining quality standards.
Expand and refine our existing programs. Our podcast, newsletter, and AI Cohort work—your job is to make them better. Identify opportunities to increase reach, engagement, and impact. Experiment with new angles, formats, and distribution channels.
Experiment relentlessly. Test new content formats (video, short-form, interactive tools), new distribution channels (Reddit, LinkedIn, niche communities), and new ways of packaging our ideas. Some will fail, and that’s totally how we want it.
What makes us excited about you:
Note: don’t feel like you need to be all of these to apply! We’d happily take someone who spikes in a few of these traits or a generalist who covers the gamut.
- You've tried to build an audience before . Maybe a YouTube channel, a newsletter, a podcast, a brand account, a music project. You know what it feels like to create something, put it out there, and learn from both successes and failures alike.
- You are positively shameless. You don't hesitate to put yourself out there, ask for things, or try unconventional approaches. Social barriers don't stop you.
- You’re a strong writer. You’ll partner with our in-house content marketer (an A+ writer himself!) for content production, but having a firm grasp on what great looks like will help ensure you make the most impact.
- You're the organized friend . People count on you to manage projects, coordinate logistics, and keep things on track. You probably own more planners than you actually need.
- You’re a content fiend. You can immediately name 3-5 brands or creators who are doing content exceptionally well—and explain why. You dream about running content for your favorite brand, celebrity, sports team, etc.
- You understand how content works . You know what makes content get discovered, consumed, and shared. You think about distribution, not just creation.
Bonus Points
- Video editing experience
- Background in accounting, finance, or another technical field
- You've managed or worked with freelance writers before
How we work
We work in person out of our offices in San Francisco and New York (in office by default but with flexibility to manage your schedule as you see fit).
We strongly believe we will only be successful if everyone on the team is anchored in the following set of core principles:
- Brick by Brick: To win, our team needs to show up and execute in each domain every day.
- Love the Game: We focus on the craft and a deep sense of giving a f*ck. We’re building a company full of people who are equally engaged and motivated.
- SALY: We refuse to accept “Same As Last Year.” For too long, accounting and finance systems have reflected outdated processes instead of reimagining what’s possible. We’re driven by a first-principles approach to building better solutions.
- Own the Outcome: We own our results. We typically hire builders and give them large mandates with high-trust. Engineers are responsible not just for code, but for ensuring the product is solving the end problems of the users.
- Earn the right: We’re impatient to deliver results. We relentlessly iterate, measure, and improve. Every day is an opportunity to beat our prior best, raising the bar for the value we deliver to customers. E Pluribus Unum-eric. **
