Role Purpose
Are you a content dynamo with a passion for storytelling and a knack for strategy? In this new role, as our Head of Content, you’ll be the driving force behind TalkTalk’s content revolution—creating, curating, and amplifying stories and campaigns that make us irresistible to new and existing customers alike. You’ll help to nurture social, SEO, and visual creator colleagues to ensure our brand shines everywhere we show up.
Main Responsibilities
- Head the creation, execution and delivery of a bold and creative content strategy that boosts TalkTalk’s presence and appeal across our website and digital platforms as well as third parties to deliver demonstrable business results
- Develop the strategy for and lead the creation and commissioning of a focused range of content—including blogs, articles, videos, infographics, guides, and customer stories—that brings our brand to life and speaks to both potential and current customers.
- Ownership of a content calendar across the business to maintain a steady stream of fresh, relevant, and on-brand material across all channels in order to educate and inform future and current customers alike, boosting engagement in line with overall strategy
- Work in partnership with the Design team to ensure consistency of content across all digital journeys - Web and App – while holding responsibility for the content process and sign-offs
- Collaborate closely with social, SEO/PPC, creative and Corporate Communications colleagues to ensure all content is discoverable, shareable, visually engaging, aligned with our brand voice, optimised for search, and supports our acquisition goals
- Lead the content community of practice to exchange ideas and align across digital touchpoints
- Harness analytics and insights to identify content gaps, spot trends, and optimise performance—always looking for new ways to surprise and delight our audiences.
- Champion TalkTalk’s tone of voice, ensuring every piece of content feels uniquely “us” and is consistent across all touchpoints.
- Collaborate with Product, Commercial, and Customer teams to turn business priorities and product launches into compelling content campaigns.
- Monitor content performance, using data to drive continuous improvement and demonstrate ROI.
- Ability to synthesise industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging content formats, in order to bring fresh and relevant ideas in-house
- Deputise for the Head of Brand & Digital Marketing
- Be a brand ambassador, always looking for new ways to tell our story and engage our community.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of the power of content marketing and digital storytelling to aid brand building
- Deep understanding of the link between content and search, and the analytics which link the two
- Ability to lead a cross-functional team to deliver this in a partnership approach
- Familiarity with SEO, social media, and visual content best practices.
- Awareness of the telecoms, utilities, or other consumer-facing sectors is a plus.
Skills:
- Exceptional writing, editing, and creative briefing skills – just at home writing as strategising, and the ability to switch between both.
- Strategic thinker with a flair for big ideas and the detail to deliver them.
- Ability to leverage content to deliver brand and acquisition growth
- Strong project management and organisational skills—able to juggle multiple campaigns and deadlines.
- Confident collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Comfortable using analytics tools to measure and optimise content performance.
- Able to inspire and lead creative contributors.
Experience:
- Demonstrable track record in leading content marketing, journalism, or digital communications, alongside proven ability to influence and work with senior stakeholders on a regular basis
- Significant track record of delivering successful content campaigns that drive engagement and business results.
- Ownership and experience of leading SEO, social, and creative teams to deliver key initiatives at pace and to budget
- Proven experience developing content calendars and editorial workflows.
- SME coaching and leadership across community of stakeholders
