About the Role (your why)
We are looking for a dynamic Senior Marketing Specialist to join Smartly’s high-performing Marketing team. This senior role is pivotal in driving Smartly’s growth through the design and delivery of integrated marketing campaigns, compelling content programs, and engaging events that resonate with target audiences and strengthen customer acquisition and retention.
You’ll create connected content and event loops — building momentum across channels and touchpoints to maximise awareness, engagement, and conversion. Combining strategic thinking with hands-on execution, you’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to bring bold marketing ideas to life. Your modern approach and awareness of emerging marketing trends will help ensure Smartly’s activity remains innovative, effective, and aligned to best practice.
Our offices are based in Lower Hutt. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work-life balance. The team currently has 2 in-office days together each week.
What you’ll do
At the moment, as Senior Marketing Specialist you will be focused on:
- Designing, delivering, and measuring integrated marketing programs that combine content, campaigns, and events to drive awareness, engagement, and lead generation.
- Planning and executing events — from webinars to flagship experiences — ensuring impact and clear ROI.
- Developing and maintaining a high-performing content calendar across digital and event channels.
- Collaborating cross-functionally with Sales, Product, and Customer Success teams to ensure initiatives are customer-centric and aligned to revenue goals.
- Managing agency partners and event vendors to deliver quality programs on time and on budget.
- Leveraging marketing technology and automation platforms to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Monitoring industry trends, applying a test-and-learn approach to optimise campaigns.

What you’ll bring
Required experience:
• At least 6 years’ experience in multi-channel B2B marketing
• Proven track record of achieving or exceeding growth targets
• Experience delivering successful in-person and virtual events
• Strong background in content creation and campaign measurement
• Experience managing agencies and external vendors
• Solid project management skills with competing priorities
• Comprehensive understanding of SaaS metrics and growth levers
Nice to have:
• Experience with Salesforce, HubSpot or Dynamics
• Tertiary qualification in Marketing or related discipline
• Knowledge of emerging content formats and event innovations
