About the role:
OfferUp is entering its build-the-future era. We’re a beloved local marketplace app competing in the modern attention economy, where video wins, creative drives the algorithm, and every dollar has to prove it can perform. We’re looking for a roll-up-your-sleeves growth marketing leader who understands the interplay of upper-funnel brand-building and lower-funnel performance, and can work both to best advantage.
Blending analytical rigor with creative judgment, you will operate across channels to plan, measure, and scale a mix that helps OfferUp reassert its unique value in the fast-growing recommerce category.
Why this role:
- Big canvas, lean team: Help architect our performance + brand mix across channels (including YouTube/CTV, TikTok, Meta, search, audio) with the support of a nimble team that moves fast, collaborates by default, and cuts the red tape.
- Real impact, right away: Turn MMM inputs, geo-lift analysis, and cohort math into bold creative and media decisions. We operate with a steady performance baseline and up-funnel flexibility, giving you leverage to experiment with new levers of growth.
Here’s more of what you will get to do:
- Own the growth model. Build the measurement spine (frameworks, geo-lift design, platform studies, incrementality guardrails), and own the media plan that says where every dollar goes and why.
- Orchestrate the brandformance mix. Shape our national + DMA strategy, and work with internal team and external media partners to execute; balance reach, frequency, and CPx to hit install/reactivation targets that drive MAU.
- Lead creative strategy like a scientist-storyteller. Work with the internal team and external partners to stand up a fast-cycle UGC + brand video engine: hypotheses → scripts/hooks → edits → tests → scale/kill rules.
- Measure through the funnel. Define KPIs by channel and format, and work with analytics (BizOps) teammates to build consumable marketing dashboards that quickly facilitate the conversation about ‘what happened’ and ‘what’s next.’
- Mentor and multiply. Level up channel testing, pacing, and partner management. Scale your talent by bringing your teammates along.
- Partner cross-functionally. Regularly sync with Product/Eng on cohort health, retention levers, and in-app measurement.
You'll thrive in this role if you have:
- 8-12+ years in consumer app growth (experience with two-sided marketplaces a plus)
- A track record of turning analysis into action: you can capably cover test design, measurement frameworks, and payback modeling at the exec- and the spreadsheet-level
- Fluency in Meta, YouTube (VRC/VAC, Shorts), TikTok/IG (UGC/Spark), CTV, and paid search; able to translate CPM/GRP into installs and MAU
- Creative instincts with test-and-learn humility: you know what hooks convert (first 3 seconds), how to brief creators, and when to retire an asset before it falls flat
- Builder energy: you’re scrappy but strategic; you focus effort and investment on highest-leverage opportunities—and then learn fast
- Tools: you don’t need to be a data scientist, but you’re comfortable in Tableau, Sheets, and quant-forward conversations
Compensation Range: $240,00 - $260,000 + up to 20% leadership annual bonus
