Overview
The Head of Marketing Communications is responsible for defining and executing the company’s communications, and corporate affairs strategies. This leader will drive initiatives that shape the company’s reputation, engage stakeholders, and position the organization as an industry leader in healthcare technology. This role manages marketing and communications activities that promote, enhance, and protect the symplr brand, and actively engages internal and external stakeholders in the symplr mission.
Duties & Responsibilities
Corporate Communications
- Oversee all external communications, including media relations, public relations, investor communications (in collaboration with PE stakeholders), and crisis communication.
- Act as a spokesperson and media contact as needed; coach executives for media appearances and speaking engagements.
- Build and maintain relationships with media, analysts, trade associations, and other key influencers in the healthcare and technology sectors.
Executive Communications
- Develop and manage executive communication strategies for the CEO and leadership team to enhance thought leadership and visibility in the market.
- Partner with internal communications fostering engagement, cultural alignment, and transparency during periods of growth or transformation on external communication platforms.
Public Affairs & ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance)
- Shape and implement public affairs strategies that support business priorities, including policy engagement, regulatory issues, and social impact initiatives.
- Partner with legal, compliance, and HR teams on ESG reporting, DEI initiatives, and community engagement efforts.
Crisis & Issues Management
- Lead issues and crisis communication planning, ensuring rapid response and reputation management in coordination with legal, compliance, and executive leadership.
- Develop and maintain scenario-based communication playbooks for business continuity and risk mitigation.
Stakeholder & Investor Relations Support
- Partner with the Board of Directors and private equity sponsors on key messaging, annual reports, and investor updates.
- Align corporate narrative and positioning with the expectations of current and potential investors, board members, and financial analysts.
Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in corporate communications, or public affairs, preferably within healthcare, SaaS, or private equity environments
- Proven ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams across branding, communications, and corporate strategy
- Experience in Business-to-Business marketing & communications
- Demonstrated success in shaping corporate narratives, launching brand platforms, and managing complex communications in high-growth, high-change settings
- Experience working directly with executive leadership, board members, and investors
- Deep understanding of healthcare industry dynamics and regulatory environment strongly preferred
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
