Would you like to use your social media skills for a great cause? Bristol based charity the St Monica Trust is looking for a Social Media Executive to join its digital team. Our work is diverse – covering retirement villages, care homes, our charitable foundation plus restaurants and cafés which are open to the public. Variety won’t be a problem!
We’re looking for someone excited to help us grow our digital presence and tell the story of how we are developing communities where older people flourish.
Based at home but with regular and frequent visits to all our sites to gather content and stories, you’ll need experience of creating, posting and reviewing both organic and paid content. You’ll need to be confident training local users on our sites to do the same. A confident user of Canva, Hootsuite and other tools, you will also have a good understanding of GDPR and consent.

Job Purpose:
The Social Media Executive plays an important role within our marketing team in building our brand, reaching future residents and staff, and contributing to our purpose. As a specialist in the field, the role is accountable for:
- Planning, delivering and evaluating effective social media content.
- Managing all our social media accounts.
- Training local users to be social media champions for their village or home.
Key Outcomes/Results:
- Plan and create engaging and compelling social media content, including written posts, images, and videos (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok); includes attending events and sites to capture relevant content.
- Plan, execute and manage paid social media campaigns to boost reach, engagement, and conversions.
- Act as the ‘voice’ of our media channels - manage day-to-day posts, responses to content, schedule content, monitoring.
- Monitor social media performance using analytical tools and generate reports to measure the effectiveness of campaigns.
- Act as trusted advisor on social media, trends, metrics and best practice, to internal influencers and stakeholders.
- Support Digital Marketing Specialist in delivery and outputs of the social media strategy.
- Collaborate as part of the internal comms team and wider marketing team, with ideas for improvement and enhancements.
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
- Able to travel across our sites at short notice and occasionally out of typical ‘office hours’.
- Experience of creating, posting and reviewing content.
- Confident in training 1:1 or small groups on social media content and best practice.
- Proven experience in using Canva, Hootsuite or other tools.
- Understanding of GDPR and consent.
- Minimum of 3 years promoting an organisation using a variety of different social media channels.
- Content writing and proof-reading skills.
- Creating paid social media advertising campaigns.
- Experience gained within a marketing, communications, recruitment, or sales team.
- Strong IT skills.
Desirable:
- Diploma in digital marketing or social media or equivalent knowledge
- Professional qualification in marketing or communications e.g. CIM certificate, diploma or equivalent.
- Google Analytics Certification
- Aware of the principles of PR
