Global Merchant Services (GMS) Marketing is dedicated to bringing buyers and sellers together and transforming how American Express is welcomed. GMS Marketing is responsible for driving growth, accelerating coverage and enhancing the value of American Express acceptance to merchants and Cardmembers at scale. We focus on enhancing our relationships with millions of merchants of all sizes and while focused on Europe, we also work with commerce hubs across the globe including the U.S, Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
It is also critical for GMS Marketing to collaborate effectively with Card Issuing teams and other sister organizations across the Blue Box to fully harness the power of the closed loop via mediums including Custom Consulting, Offers, Recommendations, Multi-Merchant Campaigns, Digital Experiences and Brand Awareness. GMS Marketing partners with organizations including Client Management, Marketing Operations, Information Management, Enterprise Digital, Global Advertising and Brand Management and Global Servicing Network.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the GMS Marketing Team. The UK is the largest market for GMS Europe and in this highly visible customer facing role, the candidate will be responsible for managing the marketing opportunities to help acquire new UK merchants that start accepting American Express. They will also manage the ongoing communications strategy to drive Perception of Coverage.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Provide marketing expertise and solutions for key prospects and/or newly signed merchants
Working with both a large set of internal stakeholders and a group of external partners to create a strategic marketing plan – aligned to each of your merchant’s needs
Creating and delivering marketing activity, ensuing all relevant approvals are obtained
You’ll be expected to understand the industry in-which your merchant operates, to support their business objectives, by managing end-to-end tactical campaigns, analysing campaign results, leveraging, sharing and delivering results with merchants and internally
Working with internal stakeholders across the Issuing and Corporate businesses to develop an ongoing communications plan to drive perception of coverage awareness
Partner closely with UK client management to gain relevant merchant approvals or buy in for any perception of coverage related marketing
To achieve business objectives in the most cost-effective way and will be responsible for managing the portfolio and the individual merchant marketing budgets
Minimum Qualifications
University degree or equivalent experience preferable, but not essential
Consumer marketing and proven client facing experience (external)
The role requires strong internal and external relationships with customers, colleagues and suppliers, anticipating and adapting to needs and providing a tailored consultative service
Experience in planning, presenting and executing tactical marketing campaigns, managing creative agencies and managing campaign budgets
Ability to build strong relationships, professional, confident and personable with high levels of energy and a proactive attitude
Experience of analysing and interpreting data, with a passion for marketing and innovation
Organised to work in a pressured, fast –paced environment and be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Be able to multi-task with the ability to prioritise effectively at the same time as managing both internal and external customers
You must be a team player and are able to work collaboratively with a variety of internal groups and business units
Driving Results - this role has multiple responsibilities and will be expected to perform in a highly results-driven environment, including effectively managing marketing campaigns with superb attention to detail whilst also focusing on strategic thought leadership
Ability to develop marketing strategies linked to merchant objectives, produce effective marketing plans using research, results and analysis and resolve commercial customer objectives through marketing solutions and innovation
