Job Description
U.S. Bank is seeking a seasoned and visionary Creative Director with deep expertise in copywriting to join our in-house brand team. This role is ideal for a creative leader with 10+ years of experience across both agency and in-house environments, who thrives at the intersection of strategy, storytelling, and execution.
About the Role
As the lead writer and creative voice of the U.S. Bank brand, you will shape and elevate our go-to-market presence with a more sophisticated, modern tone. You’ll report to the brand Creative Lead and partner closely with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to bring our brand strategy to life through compelling, high-impact copy across channels.
The ideal candidate must possess a strong portfolio of advertising work, with clear examples of highly impactful social campaigns. They should be versatile, able to craft high-level strategic copy, and lead ideation for integrated creative campaigns. A deep interest in and engagement with culture is essential, along with a strong understanding of what works across various social platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the lead copywriter and brand voice steward for U.S. Bank.
- Translate complex business strategies into clear, motivating, and on-brand messaging.
- Lead the development of creative concepts and campaign narratives across digital, social, and traditional media.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across verticals to ensure creative alignment and consistency.
- Present creative work with confidence and clarity to executive leadership, including the C-suite.
- Manage and mentor a team of writers, fostering a culture of creativity, curiosity, and excellence.
- Stay ahead of emerging trends in AI and creative technology, guiding the team into the next phase of innovation.
- Champion a collaborative, enthusiastic, and solutions-oriented approach to creative leadership.
- Stay current with cultural trends and platform-specific best practices
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Typically eight or more years of content strategy or related experience
Preferred Skills/Experience- 10+ years of experience in creative copywriting roles.
- Proven success in both agency and in-house environments.
- Deep understanding of branding, advertising, and social media.
- Strong portfolio of advertising work with impactful social campaigns.
- Experience in financial services is a strong plus.
- Exceptional presentation and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and inspire award-winning work.
- Knowledgeable about contemporary culture.
- Curious, adaptable, and excited about elevating the people around you.
This role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $119,765.00 - $140,900.00
